Now under the patronage of the Lord Mayor of Cork, the City of Cork Symphony Orchestra is one of the legacies left by Professor Aloys Fleischmann, who founded Cork’s first Symphony Orchestra for university students and local musicians with the aim of bringing classical music to Cork music lovers, playing its first concert on 15th of March 1935.

Under the skillful baton of music director Keith Pascoe and with a guest appearance by young Cork virtuoso violinist Maireád Hickey, Cork Opera House is thrilled to welcome City of Cork Symphony Orchestra back to the stage for the first time in decades.
